CLINICAL & MEDICAL EVALUATION

Comprehensive planning makes positive outcomes possible.

Our goal is to uncover and evaluate pertinent and illuminating information in a respectful, ethical, and efficient manner which will serve the individual in gaining a beneficial understanding of themselves, and allow for the development of more meaningful, accurate, and targeted interventions.

Clinical & Medical Evaluation

Makana Path performs in-depth clinical and medical evaluations for each client before detox begins. A comprehensive evaluation process enables us to design a highly individualized detox treatment plan that addresses specific concerns regarding a client’s substance use disorder, mental and physical health, and urgent medical matters.

Addiction is a complex disease, and a thorough evaluation of a client’s overall well-being is critical to designing a treatment plan that addresses specific concerns and offers a client the most substantial chance of continuing treatment and experiencing lasting recovery. A client will meet with a physician and primary counselor within 24 hours of admission. The evaluation process consists of three specific evaluations: medical, physical and psychosocial.

MEDICAL EVALUATION PROCESS

An assessment of a client’s health and medical history allows us to design the most individualized detox treatment plan possible. In this phase, we will evaluate a client’s:

  • Physical issues, such as history of injuries or illnesses.
  • Psychological issues, such as anxiety or depression.
  • Current medications.
  • Family medical history.

PHYSICAL EVALUATION PROCESS

A physical evaluation will monitor a client’s vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate and temperature, as well as withdrawal symptoms. We will also perform drug and alcohol testing during this phase.

PSYCHOSOCIAL EVALUATION PROCESS

Physical healing is an integral component of overall healing from addiction, but the most effective treatment incorporates programming that addresses the underlying issues that contribute to addiction. A psychosocial evaluation examines a client from both psychological and social perspectives, affording us the opportunity to understand how these factors influence a client’s physical and mental well-being.
