Today’s Reminder: Serenity
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
~ Serenity Prayer ~
Spiritual Principles Series
The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous tells us that we are in the world to play the role He assigns us. Just to the extent that we do as we think He would have us, and humbly rely on Him, does he enable us to match calamity with serenity. This is a promise that comes to fruition when we are no longer running the show but simply here to carry out the vision of God’s will in all of our activities.
3 C’s of Al-Anon
- We didn’t CAUSE it
- We can’t CONTROL it
- We can’t CURE it
AND WE WON’T CONTRIBUTE TO IT TODAY
Questions to Consider This Week
- What are two areas of my daily living that I would like to have serenity around and am I willing to submit those to my Higher Power?
- When I look back, after working with spiritual principles in my own program of recovery, can I see where God has granted me serenity that I could not have mustered on my own will power?
